Kampala — IN a rare show of solidarity, retired football players and administrators gathered for the first time in years at Namboole yesterday and agreed to work together.
This was at a two-day stakeholders' conference to review a long-term plan that former president Denis Obua's regime put in place a year before government forcefully pushed him out of office in 2005.
Former FUFA presidents Twaha Kakaire and John Baptist Ssemanobe urged the current administration to forget about politics in the game and join hands to find solutions for its improvement.
"Let's analyse the current situation and work together. FUFA should put in place the necessary structures to ensure football development is realised from the grassroots," Ssemanobe said.
Retired football players Jimmy Kirunda, Jimmy Semugabi and former FUFA presidential candidate Chris Rwanika all brainstormed on the way forward.
The workshop, that will set a four-year football agenda ends today. It is organised by FUFA technical director Edgar Watson's office and facilitated by FIFA assistant development officer technical and projects, Sonnyboy Sethibe.
Sethibe advised FUFA to ensure that they get their marketing tactics right.
