As part of efforts to ensure its comprehensive health care programme reaches all strata of society, the Cross River State Government has pledged to collaborate with voluntary organisations to effectively implement the programme.
Speaking while receiving members of the International Inner Wheel Clubs District 914 Nigeria, Governor Liyel Imoke said the club will play a catalytic role in reaching out to the populace since it is a social organisation that has direct contact with grassroot.
The Inner Wheel Club led by its International President, Mrs. Suzanne Nielsen was at the Government House in Calabar as part of Mrs. Suzanne Nielsen's working tour of Nigeria .
Imoke said that for Government to realize its set goals, it must collaborate with a reputable organisation like the International Inner Wheel which he noted is better placed and positioned as an instrument to realize its vision and promised to partner with it.
The Governor promised to foot the hospital bill of eleven year old Master William George who is suffering from a spinal cord injury and directed the Commissioner for Social Welfare to take over the matter.
While wishing the International President of the Club well, the Governor urged them to explore the various tourists¢ sites which he said government was developing to make the State a preferred destination in the country.
Earlier, the International President of the International Inner Wheel Clubs Mrs. Suzanne Nielsen said the Club which is 45 years old is a subsidiary of the Rotary Club and has membership across 105 countries.
Mrs. Suzanne maintained that she and her team were in the country to appraise the activities of the Club in the country with the view to position it for a better service delivery and promised to collaborate with the state.
