Luanda — Experts from Gulf of Guinea member states are meeting Thursday in Luanda to prepare the 2nd Summit of heads of State and Government of the organisation, scheduled for November 25, in Angola's capital.
The meeting of experts of the Gulf of Guinea Commission member countries will go until November 22, preceded by the organisation's Cabinet Council session.
According to a note from the Angolan Foreign Ministry that reached Angop Wednesday, the meeting will discuss documents ruling the organisation, the budget for 2009, members contributions, ministers reports, the insignia and flag drafts for the Commission and other matters.
The source adds that the Cabinet Council opening session will be chaired by Angolan Foreign minister, Assunção dos Anjos, in his capacity as chairman of the organ.
With its Executive Secretariat based in Luanda, the Gulf of Guinea Commission was established in 1999 and groups Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, São Tomé and Príncipe, Gabon, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea.
The Commission is an organ for concert among the Gulf of Guinea countries for cooperation and development, prevention of border-related conflicts, economic and commercial matters and exploration of natural resources.
It is the organisation's task to reinforce cooperation and solidarity among member states, create mutual trust, peace and security required for their harmonious development.
