Luanda — Angolan deputy Foreign minister, George Chicoty, Thursday in Luanda, recommended the deepening of the discussion of the matters concerning the member states of the Gulf of Guinea Commission.
Speaking at the opening of the 4th Session of Experts of the Gulf of Ginea Commission, George Chicoty said this is for the political, economic and social matters concerning the commission's member states to be addressed and settled.
The 4th session of experts of the organisation is taking place in Luanda until November 22, to prepare the 2nd Summit of heads of State and Government of the region, scheduled for November 25, in the Angolan capital.
The summit will be preceded by a meeting of the Organisation's Council of Ministers, on November 24.
The deputy Foreign minister highlighted the importance of the meetings of experts of the regional cooperation organisation as, he added, these are the ones that prepare, discuss and make recommendations for the ministers and heads of State sessions.
He thus said that the session of experts that has just started has a great importance as it will come up with recommendations on the pertinent documents prepared, towards the good functioning of the organisation.
He recalled that the members of the organisation had met a few months ago in Luanda, to adopt some documents that will be analysed again during the ongoing session.
The deputy mentioned rules and procedures for the Executive Secretariat, organogram, regulations for the Gulf of Guinea Commission financial report, action plan, financial and audit report, budget for 2009, contributions from member states and insignia and flag for the organisation as some of the documents on the agenda.
According to George Chicoty, the agenda for the meeting includes the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the situation of security in the Gulf of Guinea and the international financial crisis.
The opening of the session was witnessed by the executive secretary of the Gulf of Guinea Commission, Carlos Gomes, and representatives of member countries, ambassadors, directors and high ranking officials of the Foreign Ministry.
