Nigeria: Basketball - Pillars Eye Tunisia Win

Kano — History-making Kano Pillars Basketball team added another feather to its cap when it emerged winners of the FIBA Africa Zone 3 Club Championship qualifier, having defeated Union Bank of Lagos 87-76 inside the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.

The match was played on Monday to round off the Zone 3 qualifier. It was the second time the Northern team would beat the Bankers following their victory in the NBBF Premier League about two weeks ago.

By this victory, Kano Pillars have proven that it remains the best club in the Zone 3 and one of the two Nigerian clubs in the tournament that would represent the FIBA-African Zone 3 at the Championship proper in Tunisia .

The Pyramid Boys who dominated all departments of the game with positional display, were judged best club not only in Nigeria but across the West African region.

The explosive game followed their impressive performance in the preliminary, semi and final stage where they won all their games to become overall winners in the tournament.

The Nigeria Basketball Federation's Premier League champions are now looking forward to winning in the main tournament in Tunisia next month and have promised to win the competition.
