The office of the Auditor General of the Federation is collaborating with the International Institute for Training, Research and Economic Development (IITRD) to organize a four-day national workshop on "Imperatives of Strategic Planning towards Achieving Audit and Financial Goals in the Public Sector".
Participants at the workshop slated for Monday 24 to Thursday 27 November 2008, at the Crest Hotel & Gardens, Old Airport Road, Jos, Plateau State, are expected to focus on the rudiments and challenges of strategic planning, strategic leadership, financial reporting, legislative compliance on public accounts, design and implementation of functional audit plans, strategic budgeting and use of planning software in audit and finance functions. A statement from Sani S. Dawop, the president/ CEO of IITRD said to achieve the workshop target, the Auditor General and chief host, Mr. O.R. Ejenavi and other guest speakers are expected to share experiences. Those expected include; Dr. Michael Omolayole, the Chairman, Council of the Institute, Prof. Simon Guteng, Director, Gallaudet Leadership Institute & Professional Studies, Washington D.C., Dr Bright Okogu, Director General Budget Office, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwabo, Accountant General of the Federation, Elder J.O Ajiboye, former Auditor General of the Federation and Mr. B. A. Achaka, Auditor General for Plateau State who is co-host. The statement said Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau would declare the workshop open as special guest of honour while Senate President, David Mark is expected to be chairman of the opening ceremony.
