Namibia: Sports Notices Cheetahs Hold Race

THE Golden Cheetahs Athletic Club will host a 2,5 kilometre HIV-AIDS Awareness Fun Run in Katutura on November 29.

The race starts at 07h00 at Soweto Market and ends at the Katutura Red Cross Shopping Centre.

Entry fees are N$5 for pupils and N$10 for adults.

All the proceeds on the day will be donated to the HIV-AIDS Support Groups of Otjozondjupa Region on World AIDS Day.

Marathon at Oshikango THE annual Gabriel Simon Shokonawa long distance marathon will be held on December 13 at the town of Oshikango.

The event will be opened by President Hifikepunye Pohamba and the Queen of Oukwanyama, Martha Christian Ya Nelumbu.

The race consists of 10 km, 25 km and 35 km routes for juniors, senior boys and girls and men respectively.

Shokonawa will run 35 km, while Deputy Minister of Sport Pohamba Shifeta will run the 10 km.

The 35-km race is from Ongha to Oshikango.

Kerina Cup in March THE Professor Mburumba Kerina Football Cup will be held at Legare Stadium in Gobabis between March 14 and 15 next year.

The quarterfinals will take place at Okovimburu in Epukiro and the semi-finals will be held at the Khomasdal Stadium in Windhoek.

The winner receives N$20 000 as prize money, runners-up N$10 000 and the third- and fourth-placed teams get N$8 000 and N$2 000 respectively.

The entry fee per team is N$1 200.

The draw will be held early next year.
