Sierra Leone: Councilor Says Medical Store Unsafe in Tonkolili

21 November 2008

Councilor of ward 202 in the Magburaka township, Tonkolili district has Friday rejected a planned medical store facility at Magburaka.

Councilor Abdulai Larkoh said they rejected the construction of the medical store because the place where government contractors want to locate the facility would not be convenient and safe.

"Drugs and heat are not friends. We cannot allow the drugs to be put close to areas vulnerable to fire. The medical store can be located anywhere apart from the place they want to erect the structure," Larkoh said.

One of the community elders Lamina Mansaray said the idea of giving their locality a medical store was very good as it will generate development. "But we don't want them to build the structure around the electricity house, it can cause danger," Mansaray said.
