Nigeria: Kaita Disappointed By Red Card

21 November 2008

Midfielder Sani Kaita has told KickOffNigeria.com that he was disappointed to have been sent off in the Super Eagles 1-0 loss to Colombia in Wednesday's friendly match.

Kaita was red-carded for protesting Falcao Garcia's goal, which the Nigerians claimed was offside, although television replays showed that the Colombian was played onside by Onyekachi Apam.

"As a player if you believe that something is not right, you have to protest and that is what we all did," Kaita said.

The Monaco midfielder insists though, that he did not speak out of turn, and said maybe he was singled out because of some shoving he was involved in

"When we got there, there was a little pushing so maybe that is why he gave me the red card."

Kaita also maintained that the referee was unfair to his side throughout the game

"He was always making some wrong calls against us, before that goal finally came."
