The SWAA has embarked on projects to support vulnerable women.
The Society for Women and Aids in Africa, SWAA has planned to organise some special activities for the week end of November 21 and 22 to raise funds. These are a fund raising gala on November 21 and spectacle for Children on November 22 programme. Special activities have been previewed like animations from musicians, humorist, and games among others. On Saturday, there will be sensitisation on HIV for children, projection of a film on HIV for children between 5 to 18 years. Entry fee is FCFA 3000, while for the gala night it is FCFA 40, 000. The programme receives sponsorship from Cam water, Chococam, Air Francs, SABC and some other enterprises.
The objective of this fund raising is to raise finance which will support vulnerable women to do certain economic activities which will help them to become financially viable. This is under the project of SWAA littoral's Income Generating activities. Under this programme, they had done a first fund raising in 2006 which helped in buying equipment to produce soap and also gave funds to some women to carryout other activities. They also did training on fish smoking, soap production, tie and dye, among others. It is expected that after the fund raising they would be able to assist other women do business.
