Eritrea: New Well Dug in Yikar'e Administrative Area

Asmara — A new well has been dug in Yikar'e administrative area, Kerkebet sub-zone, and is providing potable water to the local inhabitants, according to Mr. Berhane Kahsai, head of administration and finance in the sub-zone.

He indicated that the well has been dug through popular campaign in which more than 120 people took part. Mr. Berhane pointed out that the Anseba regional Administration also disbursed over 100,000 Nakfa for the undertaking. The inhabitants of the area used to encounter potable water supply problems, especially in winter.

Yikar'e, one of the administrative areas of Kerkebet sub-zone, is inhabited by about 2,000 people who earn their living on herding and farming.
