Asmara — A dialysis treatment for patients suffering from kidney disease has been introduced in Eritrea. Accordingly, Orotta Referral Hospital has introduced four modern equipments to this end.
An Italian expert, Dr. Robert Pititi said that the up-to-date equipments would make due contribution in the development of the nation's health sector. Noting that Eritrean nurses have been trained to properly monitor the newly introduced equipments, he indicated that there are plans to offer training to young health professionals nearing graduation from the Orotta School of Medicine. Dr. Robert further explained that efforts would be made in collaboration with the Ministry of Health to expand dialysis treatment in all administrative regions.
Likewise, Dr. Jovani Aviendola stressed the significance of exchanging experience with Eritrean medical experts.
Previously, patients who require dialysis treatment used to travel abroad for the treatment.
