Angola: Festival Serves to Show Reality Abroad

Luanda — The minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva, on Saturday here stated that the International Cinema Festival of Luanda is an excellent opportunity to show the Angolan reality abroad.

Speaking at the opening session of FICLuanda at Atlântico cinema, in the Angolan capital (Luanda), the official reaffirmed that, with the holding of this event, Angolans have one more opportunity to inform the world on what is happening in the country in cultural, social and political terms and on the development of cities.

"Cinema is the bridge that Angolans can use to get closer to other peoples, this way giving them the real image of the country and its people, by understanding their ideas, notwithstanding their convictions", stressed Rosa Cruz e Silva.

She also added that FICLuanda shall also serve for Angolan producers to obtain foreign experience, through contacts with their colleagues, as a means to acquire useful knowledge.

To Rosa Cruz e Silva, with this first edition of FICLuanda, it is intended to offer to the public and to professionals of the Angolan cinema the opportunity to make contact with various artistic means so as to analyse technical and aesthetic viewpoints, this way diversifying the

knowledge on the process of revealing cinematographic and audio-visual contexts.

The programme of FICLuanda opened on Saturday with the screening of the Brazilian movie "Tropa de Elite", comprises 10 short movies, 10 features and equal number of documentaries.
