Angola: Government Sets Up Luanda Transports Authority

Luanda — The Cabinet Council formalised, through publishing a resolution, in the State Gazette, the creation of the Transports Authority of Luanda, meant to solve the problem of the circulation of people and goods in the country's capital.

The organ was created under the decree 78/08, part of the 1st Series nº 78, of September 24, made available to ANGOP on Saturday.

According to its organic status, the Transports Authority of Luanda is a public institute, equipped with legal personality and administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy, under the methodological and technical responsibility of the Transports Ministry and administrative and functional dependability of the Provincial Government of Luanda.

It is in charge of elaborating enrolment draft projects and discipline of the transports sector in its geographical area of intervention.

The institution is also in charge of granting, proroguing, changing, suspending or revoking the licenses of firms and entities that carry out activities of the sector.
