South Africa: Ramos Promises to Give 100 Percent to Absa

Johannesburg — IF THE salary of Steve Booysen, Absa's departing CEO, is anything to go by, successor Maria Ramos might be paid up to R19m in the 2009 financial year.

Ramos, who confirmed on Friday she was leaving Transnet to head SA's largest retail bank from March, was paid R8m by Transnet in the past year while Booysen took home R18,8m. His guaranteed salary was R5,8m, and there was a R13m bonus.
