Harare — ACTOR-cum-musician Nevernay Chinyanga - popularly known as Muwengwa for his role in the popular soap Studio 263 - is battling Hypokalemia and has not been well for the past month.
He was taken in at West End Clinic where he is undergoing treatment and he is appealing for assistance to help him pay his medical bills and general upkeep.
Hypokalemia is a result of an abnormally low level of potassium in the blood leading to weakness and heart abnormalities; associated with adrenal tumors, starvation or taking diuretics.
"It all started on October 19 when I began by having a non-stop running stomach and uncontrollable vomiting.
"This persisted for some time and I thought it would quickly end but the situation deteriorated with each passing day," explained Muwengwa.
A local businesswoman - Susan Jason - came to his rescue by taking him to a clinic after the popular television personality had spent a month at home with little help.
"I was just lying in pain at home, but Ms Jason stretched her hand and took me to this hospital where she has paid virtually for all my medical bills and tests I have undergone," said Muwengwa as he lay in his hospital bed.
"Ndatova nani ini. Mudumbu mandainzwa hamudi munhu ari weak. Munotoda munhu akashinga mudumbu macho. But I am now better.
"I am appealing for help because the bills are just astronomical and I cannot foot them.
"Were it not for Jason who assisted me, I don't know what I could have done. I am much better now because of her help," he said. Jason urged his fans and the corporate world to assist Muwengwa in his hour of need.
"Muwengwa featured in many TV, radio and Press commercials so his achievements cannot go unnoticed. Those who worked with him in those projects or those who contracted him should also lend a helping hand," Jason said.
