Sierra Leone: Ports Authority frowns at SLFA

Secretary General of Ports Authority Football club, Idrissa Mago Tarawallie has urged the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to revise their decision of less support towards the club ahead of their upcoming African champions' league.

In a letter addressed to the national premier league champions, SLFA stated that they would render less support towards the team in the upcoming African champions' league campaign.

However, this did not go down well with the champions and after an executive meeting, the club in a reply to SLFA stated that they will not accept SLFA conditions.

"It was a decision taken by the very SLFA executive to render their fullest support to any team that would be representing the country in CAF competition. Why now?" Mago asked.

He further revealed that Article 2l of the SLFA constitution stated that "SLFA should encourage and augment the effort of clubs to ensure their participation in international competition."

According to Mago, they've contacted the director of sports, Bai Kabia about the matter and are still waiting on the decision of SLFA before considering court action.

He went on to express the club's willingness to participate in the forth coming competition noting that they are under intensive preparation.

SLFA public relation officer, Sorie Ibrahim Sesay said SLFA would want to assist but have less available funds. He reaffirmed the football association's willingness to assist with a token amount and facilities at their disposal.
