OLU of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse II (CON), has said that the fortune of Itsekiri artistes would be more palatable, if they key into the ideals of the Association of Itsekiri Performing Artistes (AIPA).
The Warri monarch stated this while issuing a certificate of recognition to members of AIPA in his palace in Ugbori, Warri.
The royal father who spoke through one of his high chiefs and Secretary of the Warri Traditional Council, Chief Denson O. Ogedegbe, said as artistes, "AIPA has a major role to play in the propagation of Itsekiri language, culture and tradition to Nigerians and rest of the world."
Earlier in his address, National President of AIPA, Mr. Alex Eyengho, said more than ever before, Itsekiri artistes were "prepared to partner with the Warri Traditional Council in the projection of Itsekiri language, rich culture and tradition through all the media of communication available to them as artistes," adding that Itsekiri-born artistes are no pushovers in the larger Nigerian entertainment industry.
Eyengho, who is also the current Secretary-General of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) Nigeria, said the overriding objective of AIPA, "is to provide an umbrella platform for discussion by Itsekiri in the arts and entertainment industry within the confines of the entertainment industry in Nigeria and globally."
