Angola: Witchcraft Approached in Theatre Play

Lubango — A theatre play entitled "More than one day needed" that tackles the issue of witchcraft, ambition and the drama of street kids, was displayed Sunday in Lubango city, southern Huila province by the group "Damba Maria" of central Benguela.

According to the group's president, Adérito Tchiuca, the play also focuses on aspects related to Angola's economic potential.

According to him, the play is about a couple that gets witchcraft to become rich, placing at risk their children in exchange. It is aimed at drawing the attention of adults for the need to observe the children universal rights.

The show is part of the group's tour of the country that started in October this year. The group will later start an international tour taking it to Namibia, Cape Verde and Brazil.

"Damba Maria" was established on February 17, 2006 and, through theatre, works in promoting the defence of human rights.
