AshantiGold are holding onto striker Alex Asamoah until Kumasi Asante Kotoko can fulfil their part of the deal that was to take the highly rated striker to Kumasi.
Kotoko coach Maurice Cooreman originally had Asamoah in his plans for Kotoko's opening league game before the Ghana Football Association notified Kotoko of AshantGold's objection.
Kotoko and AshantiGold have agreed a 50,000 GHC deal for the striker but KickOffGhana.com understands that it was Kotoko's inability to push through two pre-season friendly games as part of the deal that irked the Obuasi club.
Under the deal, the two clubs were due to meet in two friendly games with AshantiGold taking all the gate proceeds from the game in Kumasi and 60 per cent from the tie in Obuasi.
But plans for the game fell through with AshantiGold blaming Kotoko for the problem.
KickOffGhana.com has learned from highly placed Kotoko sources that the Porcupine Warriors will cede their gate proceeds from the December 3rd Premier League game against the same side to get the deal through.
The deal was a smart piece of business for AshantiGold but many Kotoko fans are wondering why the urgency to sign the pacy forward with Kwadwo Poku and Eric Bekoe still in a side that was the best attacking team of the last season.
