Kampala — MoneyGram has launched a promotion dubbed 'Wish List 2008' to reward needy, but exemplary people in local communities in and around the Greater Kampala area.
The promotion, which started yesterday, would end on December 12 with two people receiving sh1m each, a statement from the money transfer service provider said.
It added that MoneyGram had partnered with Stanbic Bank and Bank of Africa to give customers a chance to reward good citizens in their communities.
"MoneyGram wants to empower and recognise disadvantaged people in our communities, who in spite of lack of resources try to have a positive impact on the lives of others," Stevens Mwanje, the Bank of Africa head of commercial division, said.
"This three-week promotion will offer all Ugandans an opportunity to write to selected radio stations names of individuals in their communities who are in dire need and deserve a festive season gift from MoneyGram.
"From the letters received, one winning letter will be selected every week by a panel of judges from the participating stations and banks. The winners will receive a festive season gift of sh500,000. The nominators of the winners will also receive a cash prize of sh100,000," he said.
Two winners, he said, would be selected at a grand draw and take home sh1m each, while the people who nominated them would receive sh100,000 each. The promotion is being run on Sanyu FM, CBS FM and Radio Simba.
