Kigali — Cricket without Boundaries (CWB) wrapped up their two-week clinic last Friday by awarding coaching certificates to 22 participants.
The UK based charity organisation which links cricket awareness, promotion and development with HIV/AIDS awareness in school children and adults awarded 17 participants with ICC level zero certificates and five others with ICC level one certificates.
"It is good that the numbers (coaches) have grown. This should help us reach more schools," said RCA's schools development officer Emmanuel Byiringiro.
During the tour, CWB also signed a memorandum of understanding with Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA).
CWB also conducted sessions with the Under 13 boys team scheduled to travel to Kenya for an ICC regional tournament next month, sessions with the girls' national team and individual sessions with some of Rwanda's top cricketers like Andre Kayitera, Eric Dusabemungu and Eric Dusingizimana.
CWB will now make annual tours to Rwanda to assess the level of cricket development as they also help Rwanda lobby for sponsors in the UK.
One CWB official Andy Hobbs said that the charity would continue working closely with RCA.
"We want to see cricket on the rise in Rwanda and we promise to work closely with RCA to see it happen," he said.
The clinic attracted over 60 participants from different primary and secondary schools in and around Kigali.
