CONTRACTS worth N4.25billion have been awarded by the Ondo State Government for the construction and rehabilitation of major roads in the state.
Among the roads are the 26km Akungba-Oka-Epinmi-Isua Road (N1.3billion); the 22km Ajagba-Ijuosun-Akotogbo Road (N1.2bn); the 12.2km Iju/Itaogbolu-Ogbese Road (N555m); the Ode Aye-Igbotako Road (N698m); the 14km Igburowo/Temidayo/Alaya Road (N640m) and the 5.6km FUTA Road-Aule Junction Road (N252m).
Governor Olusegun Agagu stated this yesterday in Akure while speaking with newsmen.
One of the new roads-the Akungba-Oka-Epinmi-Isua Road links several communities in the Akoko area with other parts of the state in particular, the Federal Capital Territory and the Northern part of the country in general.
The administration also awarded contracts worth N710m for the construction of some township roads in the Central Senatorial District and some government-owned hospitals.
Among the major towns billed to enjoy from the township roads are Ondo and the state capital, Akure.
Government's latest effort is coming on the heels of the administration's flagging-off of the dualisation of the two major roads leading into the capital city, the Fiwasaye-Owo road and NTA-Isinkan road.
Meanwhile, a memorandum of understanding has been signed by the government and Leventis Foundation Nigeria Limited (LFN) in the establishment of an agricultural training school at Ido-Ani in the Ose Local Government Area of the state.
