Sierra Leone: NRA Officers Receive Certificates of Excellence

25 November 2008

Freetown — In a well attended ceremony jointly organized by the African Tax Institute based in South Africa and the National Revenue Authority at the Conference Room of the NRA, Wellington Street in Freetown 25 officers of the authority have received certificates of excellence for courses offered at the Tax Institute in South Africa.

The officers, which included Commissioner General Allieu Sesay, had embarked on an intensive course on tax administration and general tax issues, earlier this year.

During the certificate presentation ceremony, Dr. Bob Conteh, the Head of the School of Social Sciences at the Post Graduate Courses, Njala University College and a Director of the Board of the National Revenue Authority congratulated the recipients and particularly Commissioner Sesay for creating such a wonderful opportunity for his staff's development and training needs.

In his own presentation, David Child, a representative of the African Tax Institute and a consultant attached to DFID expressed satisfaction over the performance of Mr. Sesay and encouraged him to continue in the area of employee development.

Similar statements were made by Abdulai Charm, Director of Policy and Legal Affairs and who doubles as the Acting Director of Administration and Human Resource Management.

The distribution of certificates by Dr. Bob Conteh and David Child to Commissioner General Allieu Sesay and staff of the NRA climaxed the programme.

It should however be noted that since Mr. Allieu Sesay took over the mantle of leadership at the NRA, more than 200 staff have benefited from similar trainings at home and abroad.
