Kampala — DOTT Services has started the sh10.4b rehabilitation of the 23.3km Kampala-Mukono and Kampala-Kawempe roads. The contract is supervised by the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA).
The works, which are under the second package of the backlog roads maintenance programme, are funded by the European Union and the Government.
The UNRA spokesman, Dan Alinange, said some of the roads to be worked on include Kalerwe-Kampala, Northern Bypass-Kawempe, Kireka-Namugongo and Bweyogerere-Mukono.
"The works started in October and will go on till June 2009. It will involve marking, cutting, filling and sealing potholes," he said.
Bush clearing and stripping in selected areas along shoulders and side drains plus reshaping of side drains will also be done.
