Angola: Family Minister Recognises Women's Importance

Addis Ababa — The Angolan Family and Women Promotion minister, Genoveva da Conceição Lino, has recognised the importance and role played by women in the Angolan politics.

The minister made this declaration in the closing of the 6th forum for African Economic Development (VI FDA) that happened from 19 to 22 November.

Genoveva Lino commended the Angolan government's commitment regarding women representatives in decision making organs.

She reminded that currently in the Angolan parliament about 40 per cent of MPs are women and they represent 30 per cent in government posts.

Angola was represented by a multisectorial delegation led by the Angolan Family and Woman Promotion minister, Genoveva Lino, a team that also included the defence deputy minister, Cândido Pereira dos Santos Van-Dunem, and the justice deputy minister, Ana Carlos kaneno.
