Eritrea: Efforts Underway to Ease Potable Water Supply Problem in Elaberead Sub-Zone

Elaberead — Efforts are underway to ease potable water supply problem in different administrative areas of Elaberead sub-zone through the collaboration of the Anseba regional administration, partners and the general public.

The head of economic development in the sub-zone, Ms. Genet Afwerki, pointed out that a total of 6 wells have already been dug in the villages of Tium-Kofa, Habrom-Hamarb, Dembe-Habtetsion, Wasdemba and Derkonoq. The Deki-Andu potable water supply project is also nearing finalization, she added.

Ms. Gennet further indicated that new micro-dams and water reservoirs are under construction in the administrative areas of Edirba, She'ib-Seleba and Yigiar, while wells are being dug in Hamedai and Adi-Dafla.

80% of the inhabitants of Elaberead sub-zone have now access to reliable potable water supply, according to reports.
