Kumasi Asante Kotoko have defended the deal they struck to sign striker Alex Asamoah in the face of mounting criticisms that the Porcupine Warriors got the wrong end of the bargain in negotiations for the AshantiGold striker.
Kotoko finally have their man after the status committee of the Ghana Football Association settled the dispute between the clubs that threatened to stall it.
The friendly game that never was between the two sides, which forced AshantiGold to pull the plugs initially on the deal, will be played on November 30th and December 14th while Kotoko are supposed to make available one player to AshantiGold after Kwame Obeng Darko refused to be part of the deal.
AshantiGold will take the total gate proceeds from the friendly game in Kumasi and 60 per cent of the proceeds from the match in Obuasi.
All that is in addition to the 50,000 dollars that AshantiGold will receive in transfer fee from the Porcupine Warriors.
Critics say Kotoko have struck a bad deal but Kwame Baah Nuako, communications director of the club does not think so.
"At the end of the day it all depends on what value we place on the player," he said.
"What we will be willing to pay for one player another club might not be so it's purely an issue of opinion and judgement. We did a deal based on evaluation of the player."
Kotoko are delighted the issue has been closed but are quietly unhappy about the manner it was sorted out.
