Asmara — The National Center for Vocational Training (NACVOT) in Sawa recently graduated 2792 students in 18 different vocational fields. Together with the skilled human resources being produced by the various colleges and institutions in the country, this figure clearly shows that the national plan for increasing the number of skilled citizens is right on track. Moreover, the fact that the trainees come from all corners of the country and that 50% of them are women is a reflection of the Eritrean government's commitment to providing equal opportunities for all citizens. Indeed, if a citizen is to work hard so as to benefit from the nation's resources and contribute to the nation-building process then it is imperative that he/she receive proper training and acquire a skill that promotes further innovation.
The Eritrean National Charter calls for continued investment in the education sector so as to produce skilled human resources that could play a determinant role in the nation-building process. Based on this principle, the Government of Eritrea has been implementing different large-scale projects in this sector so as to provide all citizens and particularly the youth with a variety of educational and training opportunities.
In today's world there are countless training centers and programs that can expand and develop an individual's innate creative tendencies. However, these trainings don't come free, particularly in the developed world it is nearly impossible to secure educational training for free. But the opposite holds true in Eritrea, for our reality and objectives are quite different from others'. As is generally known, our vision is to secure social justice, narrow the gap between the poor and the affluent, guarantee every citizen's participation in the economic and political activities of the country and secure even distribution of development in all parts of the country. Hence, to build a just and progressive nation it is crucial to first create equitable educational and training opportunities.
Having been provided with free educational opportunities, our youth should realize that nothing worthwhile can be achieved without proper education and earnestly strive to acquire competitive skills and experience both in the field of education and work career.
