Nigeria/Cameroon: Cameroon to Field Second Team Against Falcons

26 November 2008

Cameroon will field its second team against Nigeria's Super Falcons for the third place match billed for Friday at the Estadio Du Malabo.

While Cameroon was trounced 3-0 by South Africa, Nigeria lost to Equatorial 1-0 in the semi-final of the ongoing Africa Women Championship (AWC) on Tuesday.

Chief Coach, Enow Ngachu, told our correspondent that he decided to rest his main team to give the new players an opportunity to showcase their talents.

"Our team is a blend of U-17 and U-20 national teams. We have 10 new players that are playing in their first major competition. So they would be the ones l will be parading against the Nigerian side," he said.

Although he was a bit disappointed with Nigeria for losing to Equatorial Guinea, he, however, wants his players to tap from his opponents wealth of experience.

He added that it would be an error of judgment to think they can defeat their opponents, simply because they have been dethroned as champions.

"If we win, it is good for the team; and at the same time, if we place fourth, l am still comfortable. All l want is for the team to learn," added the coach.

That notwithstanding, Ngachu admitted picking the bronze would not be bad idea as a gift for his country.
