South Africa: Relegation Hurts Mwafulirwa

27 November 2008

Former Ajax Cape Town striker Russell Mwafulirwa has revealed his frustration at being relegated at Swedish side, IFK Norrkoping.

"To be honest, I am not happy to see myself in this situation, being my first time to be relegated. It hurts, but I can't do anything, that's part of life," he tells KickOff.com.

Having managed three goals in 13 starts for the relegated side, Mwafulirwa is already preparing for life in the lower division even though he does not rule out an offer from another Swedish top team.

"I am happy that I managed to score and I was voted Man of the Match in the last three consecutive games. Even the directors have hailed me as one of their best signings, and media say I am of another class than most players of my team," he says.

"Being relegated is not the end of the world. As long as am fit enough I will keep on doing what am good at. I believe God has plans for me. Let me hasten to mention that playing in the Swedish lower division is tough, you can't even compare it to the PSL."
