Luanda — The National Commission for Disarming of Population in Illegal Possession of Firearms met Thursday in Luanda, under the prime minister, Antonio Paulo Kassoma, to analyse the work done so far and outline a plan for 2009.
The meeting analysed actions to be taken under the fourth phase of the process of disarming and the regulation on granting of collective incentives.
During the meeting, the commission learned of the draft laws on possession and use of defence and leisure firearms, private security and the programme for destruction of lethal material collected.
The Government programme for disarmament of people in illegal possession of firearms is in its third phase (compulsory disarming), following the first and second successful operations that focused on awareness and voluntary surrender, respectively.
