Angola: Premier Discusses Cooperation With Russian Ambassador

27 November 2008

Luanda — The Angolan Prime Minister, António Paulo Kassoma, discussed this Thursday with the Russian ambassador to Angola, Serguey Menáchev, issues related to the reinforcement of cooperation between both countries.

Speaking at the end of the meeting, Serguey Menáchev reaffirmed that his country is willing to contribute to the development of cooperation relations, whose bases were established during the struggle for Angola's independence.

Angola and Russia have political, diplomatic and economic agreements, mainly in bilateral consultations on issues related to the international arena, in the technico-military field and police assistance, diamond and oil exploration, as well as energy production.

In the ambit of the privileged relations, the Russian Federation offers 60 scholarships annually to Angolan students.
