Port Harcourt — Chinese engineers who are to handle the construction of the $1 billion (about N117 billion) Port Harcourt Ring Road project have arrived and held talks with the Rivers State government to fine tune the agreements preparatory to the commencement of the job.
A statement by the Acting Chief Press Secretary to the Government, Mr. Blessing Wakina, said the engineers arrived with the consultants on the project from the United Kingdom for the talks.
According to him, the parley which was held behind closed doors was aimed at finalising and smoothening grey areas for a date to be fixed for the commencement of construction work on the six-lane roads.
The 125 kilometre road when completed is expected to link six local government areas in the State, namely Oyigbo, Obio-Akpor, Port Harcourt, Emohua, Ikwerre and Okrika.
