Ghana: Medic Off for Medical Treatment

29 November 2008

AshantiGold have been hit by a mini technical crisis with just days before heir crucial meeting against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium after head coach Momcilo Medic left Ghana on Friday for urgent medical treatment in his native Serbia.

A club statement said the Serbian has to seek "urgent medical treatment" for a nagging calf injury which had refused to heal for months.

The statement said coach's ailment is grave fearing he might require amputation if he did not receive urgent medical attention.

The club says it is making efforts to find a stop-gap coach to fill the void created by Medic's departure and but have put assistant Evans Adotey in charge until a replacement is found.

Medic could be away for two months for post-surgery recuperation and the club is keen to ensure they maintain their good start to the season beginning with that hugely anticipated trip to Kumasi on Wednesday.
