Luanda — The National Assembly (Angolan Parliament) speaker, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, left Luanda Friday for Kampala, Uganda, to attend the 31st Conference of the African Parliamentary Union (APU) starting Saturday.
According to MP Norberto dos Santos "Kwata Kanawa", who is in the delegation, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos will address the meeting on development of agriculture in Africa, in view of the challenges of the food crisis and contribute to reduce poverty.
The promotion of health in the continent, through the fight of Hiv/Aids and improved maternal and infant health, are also part of the agenda of the meeting.
The APU meeting, that will close on Sunday, will also analyse the adoption of the proposal on the establishment, within the organisation, of the "African Parliamentary Conference on Migration and Development".
Within the framework of the meeting, the Executive Committee is to analyse the implementation of decisions and recommendations from the 30th APU Conference, held on November 29-30 2007, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and adopt its annual working programme and the draft budget for 2009.
The Parliament speaker was seen off at the Luanda "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport by MP, Joana Lina.
