Tunisia: Two Conventions Signed at 'ICT 4 all Forum' in Hammamet

Tunis — Two partnership conventions were signed on Thursday in Hammamet at the "ICT 4 all Forum- Tunis + 3 " between the Tunisian government and the US firm "Intel Corporation" on the one hand, and between the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organisation (OATIC) and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), on the other.

The convention between the Tunisian government and Intel Corporation which was signed by the Minister of Communication technologies , Mr Hadj Gley and Mr Gordon Graylish , Intel vice-president , aims at setting up a program dubbed "Intel teach" promoting the dissemination of new technologies within Tunisian educational establishments, as well as a broadband WIMAX project to manage radio frequencies.

The second convention which was signed by OATIC secretary general, Mrs Khedija Ghariani and Mr Hamdoun Toure, the secretary general of ITU, aims at setting the foundations of a strong cooperation between both organisations.

In a statement, Mr Toure hailed Tunisia's efforts in the field of ICT and its contribution in bridging the digital gap through the signing of conventions and partnership agreements at the regional and international levels.

The two day forum on "Broadband, Industry of Content and Development", which concludes on Friday, gathered some 1000 participants from 50 countries.
