Kampala — THE Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has the intersts of Buganda at heart.
While canvassing votes for the FDC candidate in the Kyadondo North by-election, Pollyne Grace Nakabuye, party leader Kizza Besigye said his party supports Mengo's demand for federalism.
The main contenders for the race include Nakabuye, DP's Regina Bakitte, NRM's Robert Kasule Sebunya and PPP's Ssentamu Mukasa Ssewandagi.
The by-election to fill the seat that fell vacant following the death of Israel Kibirige Ssebunya last month, is set for Thursday December 4.
"Ugandans decided to have a federal system but Parliament was misdirected by some individuals selfish interests," Besigye said.
The CP party president, John Ken Lukyamuzi, and other members of the coalition parties are expected to campaign for Nakabuye according to Besgigye.
However, DP spokesperson, Betty Nambooze, has rapped the FDC for failing to back the DP candidate.
She said:â-à"They should withdraw their candidate and support the DP candidate because she is the most powerful opposition candidate."
The campaigns have been dominated by Mengo demands and land issues.
