Eritrea: 80 Million Nakfa Disbursed Towards Improving Living Standard of IDPs in Tsorona And Senafe Sub-Zones

Mendefera — The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein, said that over 80 million Nakfa has been disbursed towards improving the living standard of internally displaced nationals (IDPs) in the sub zones of Tsorona and Senafe.

In a meeting with staff members of the regional administration and partners, Mr. Mustafa indicated that the inhabitants of Ambeste-Geleba in Senafe sub-zone who were displaced and settled in Metera following the TPLF regime's war of aggression have now returned to their home villages and are leading a better life. Moreover, he stated that the inhabitants of Kudo-Weiba and Una-Nazo in Tsorona sub-zone have been relocated to convenient places and that 8 villages of the sub-zones would be regrouped in Mihrad-Chele.

The coordinator of the IDP program in the region, Eng. Beshir Mohammed, on his part pointed out that financial support has been extended to a total of 796 families in Ambesete-Geleba, 625 in Mihrad-Chele and 288 in Endabaestifanos for the construction of residential houses. Each family has also been given monetary assistance for the purchase of seeds and livestock, he added.

Eng. Beshir further indicated that a total of 429 families from Mai-Wurai have been rehabilitated in Gash-Barka region and that 2 hectares have been distributed to each family. To this end, the regional administration has disbursed over 3 million Nakfa, he elaborated.
