Maputo — A group of unidentified armed men on Friday attacked a minibus full of passengers at Ndoro, in the central Mozambican province of Sofala, on the main road between the towns of Caia and Gorongosa.
According to the Maputo daily "Noticias", the bus was traveling from Zambezia province to Chimoio, the capital of Manica province. The attack occurred at about 10.00, and four people were injured, one of them seriously.
The injured passengers, who included two children, were taken for treatment to the main hospital in Chimoio.
According to information from eye-witness, and confirmed by the Gorongosa District Police command, the gunmen first attacked a truck that was traveling northwards towards Caia. The driver escaped because he did not stop and drive through the ambush.
