Zimbabwe: Taekwondo Body Receives Donation

29 November 2008

THE World Taekwondo Federation has given the Zimbabwe Taekwondo Association (ZTA) training and competition equipment worth more than US$10 000.

The equipment, consisting of an electronic scoring system, trunk protectors, guards for the forearm, shin and groin, hand gloves, single and double kicking pads and coaching mitt will be officially handed over to the association at a function in Harare tomorrow, according to ZTA secretary general Benson Zwizwai. The equipment is meant for distribution to provincial affiliates. The ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Zimbabwe, as well as Sports Commission and Zimbabwe Olympic Committee officials are expected to attend the handover ceremony.

"We believe this is an important development for the Zimbabwe Taekwondo Association and the country, especially in view of the (economic) difficulties currently prevailing," Zwizwai said.
