Kigali — French-based media company Sport Five has granted free broadcasting rights to local media to broadcast the 2009 16th African Youth Championship set for January 18-February 1 in Kigali.
Sport Five senior vice-president Idriss Akki told Times Sport that local radio stations and television station will be allowed to air and produce live matches without paying a coin.
"It is a regulation from Sport Five that media companies from hosting nations are given free broadcasting rights of the tournament.
"The local media will be allowed to air and produce matches on radios and televisions but none will be allowed to offer publicity to any sponsors," he said.
As for foreign media companies, they will have to pay for the media rights before being given rights to air and show live matches.
