ALL Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) Bauchi State chapter has lamented the inability of the party to follow due process and transparency in the nomination process of the Ministerial nominee in the North East Zone.
Addressing a press conference, the state Chairman of ANPP, Ahaji Sani Shehu said the party received instruction from the presidency before the commencement of the screening exercise to submit three names from each zone which according to him the three names must come from the three different states.
He said, "we were shocked to discover that the party has submitted three names of nominees from Adamawa and Taraba and Bornu states to the exclusion of Bauchi which should be included".
Shehu explained that Bauchi State was given a ministerial slot when President Yar'Adua invited the ANPP to join the government of National Unity last year.
According to him, "Two ministerial slots were offer to our party, the party allocated one slot to North West and another to North East, the North Eastern slot was given to Bauchi but the Governor of Bornu State implored the Bauchi State Governor to let the slot be filled by the Bornu State Secretary to Governor, Ahaji Baba Jidda for whom Governor Yuguda respect so much, but unfortunately the nomination did not scale through, and our Governor expected the slot to be returned back to Bauchi but it went to other state".
He added, "as a result of the recent dropping of some ministers, a new opportunity offered itself to nominate new persons and Bauchi has reasserted its claim to fill the slot but unfortunately the party held a meting and gave the slot to Bronu State and the claim by Bauchi for being the state originally allotted the slot was ignored".
"On realizing that, the governor of Bauchi state and his delegation left the venue of the meeting because we realized that the group had perfected plans to submit the name of the younger brother of the Brono state Governor under whose influence the meeting was held"
The Chairman therefore called on President Yaradu as a matter of urgency addressed the issue by following due process and transparency in the nomination slot.
