Luanda — The Angolan minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva, on Saturday in Luanda appealed to young Angolan filmmakers to look at the recently finished Luanda International Film Festival (FICLuanda) as an incentive to boost this sector in the country, to increase the production of national short and feature movies.
"FICLuanda should serve as incentive to young producers and filmmakers, as a way of re-launching and putting dynamics in the sector, in regard to the production of films and documentaries. I think young people will again see in cinema a space for leisure and knowledge", emphasised the minister, giving an interview to ANGOP at the closing of the mentioned event, last Saturday.
According to her, the event was of great importance to Angolan filmmakers, since they had the opportunity to exchange ideas and viewpoints with foreign colleagues, which can be of help in their future works.
Rosa Cruz e Silva is of the opinion that all those involved in the seventh art have the duty to see cinema in a more serious and effective way, so that the current framework in the country can be changed.
"One of the main objectives of the Culture Ministry is to bring back joy to cinema goers, through national production" she revealed.
For seven days, FICLuanda gathered Angolan and foreign filmmakers, in an event that besides the award of prizes also served for people to interact and exchange ideas and knowledge.
