Twenty-two year-old Ama Osei of the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) has emerged as the winner of this year's miss university beauty pageant held over the weekend at the Miatta Conference Hall, Brookfields in Freetown.

The event, which saw seven enthusiastic beauty queens from various universities and colleges battling to win the star prize which is a sport car, was held under the themed "Beauty for Charity". The contest was organized by the Concord Times communications and sponsored by the biggest mobile network in the country, Zain.

It was not surprising for Ama Osei, a first year student in the Financial Service Department at IPAM to win the contest as she was able to convince both the judges and the audience.

"Each time I was on stage I sensed the approval of the audience," she said.

Emma Turay of the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology and Edna Wai of the Njala university college came second and third respectively.

The contest attracted many university students, stakeholders, artists and one of the biggest nollywood celebrities, Saint Obi.
