Makurdi — The Chief Judge of Benue State, Mr. Justice Iorhemen Hwande, has sworn in 15 newly appointed magistrates with a warning to the appointees to sustain the integrity of the judiciary or be sent packing from their positions.

He reiterated that anyone caught in corrupt practices will be dismissed from service, urging them to discharge their duties with the fear of God and without favour.

He emphasized that all actions and acts repugnant to natural justice and the oath sworn to by the appointees must be avoided and discarded.

Justice Hwande charged the new magistrates to avoid acts that will tarnish the image of the judiciary or bring it to disrepute, pointing out that anyone found compromising judicial ethics will not be spared.

He pledged the determination of the judiciary to uphold the principles of rule of law and equity in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, Mr. Ajoh Nyigba, promised that they will strictly adhere to the provisions of the oath of office they swore to and the provisions therein, assuring to be fair and just in the discharge of their responsibilities.
