Lagos — The Action Congress (AC) in Lagos over the weekend joined the fray of aggrieved Nigerians and Ebonyi indigenes calling for the removal of Sam Egwu's name from ministerial list.
President Umaru Yar'Adua recently submitted a list of his proposed ministers to the Senate for confirmation.
Among them is the former Ebonyi State Governor, Sam Egwu.
But the AC in Lagos has described as shameful Egwu's outing before the senate "where he recounted how he manipulates elections in Ebonyi State while he was in power".
According to the party, Egwu's political antecedents have shown that he is undeserving of further national appointments; and demands that he be dropped to save the nation from further degeneration into cesspool
"We call on the National Assembly to act now and drop Egwu from the ministerial list. We also call for the prosecution of Egwu for electoral fraud because that remains the single greatest threat to Nigeria's greatness as a country."
The statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Joe Igbokwe, noted that while it knows that elections are shamelessly rigged and fraudulently manipulated, it never believed that somebody that has served as a governor will be so straight-faced to tell the entire world how he distributes electoral materials to his cronies to ensure they determine the results from such exercises.
According to the party, Egwu's political antecedents had shown that he was undeserving of further national appointments; and demanded that he be dropped to save the nation further degeneration into the cesspool.
"We call on the National Assembly to act now and drop Egwu from the ministerial list. We also call for the prosecution of Egwu for electoral fraud because that remains the single greatest threat to Nigeria's greatness as a country," the party stated.
