Liberia: Country Heads West African Police Women Group

Monrovia — Liberia's Police Inspector-General Beatrice Munah Sieh-Brown has been elected as President of the West Africa Police Women Association (WAPWA).

The Police Chief was elected last Friday at the end of a two day conference organized by WAPWA in Monrovia.

Other elected at the conference include, Ivy U. Okoronkwo, Assistant Inspector-General of Police of Nigeria, first Vice President, Mme Sesoko Hawa Sidibe of Mali, Second Vice President, Florence Arthur, Assistant Commissioner of Police of Ghana, Secretary and Kadie Sanwa, Assistant Superintendent of Sierra Leone was elected Treasurer among others.

Deputy Immigrant Commissioner, Cllr. Abla G. Williams was appointed legal advisor of WAPWA.

The officers will serve a two year term. The headquarters of the association is based in Abuja, Nigeria.

The conference was held under the theme, "West Africa Police Women as partners in fighting crimes."

The two-day confab brought together participants from Guinea, Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone, Mali and host country Liberia.

In her acceptance speech, Inspector-General Sieh-Brown urged her colleagues to work with her to achieve the objective of the association in the region.
