Gambia: Today is 2009 Budget Session

The fourth meeting of the National Assembly in the 2008 Legislative Year (Budget Session) is set to commence, today December 1, 2008, at 5pm prompt, according to a press release from the National Assembly.

The release states that in pursuant to the provision of section 152 (1) of the 1997 Constitution, the secretary of state for Finance and Economic Affairs is expected to lay expenditure of the Government of The Gambia for the 2009 Fiscal Year (1st January to 31st December 2009).

The release further states that after the estimates are laid by the secretary of state, the Assembly shall resume on Monday 15th December 2008, for members to debate on the draft 2009 budget estimates.

The reports added that limited seating arrangement are available in the public gallery and that anybody who wishes to attend may apply through the office of the Acting Clerk.
