Kampala — ORPHANS and vulnerable children in Lango sub-region have received beddings and scholastic materials worth sh7m.
The items were donated by Nile Breweries in partnership with Health Initiative for the Private Sector, a local NGO.
They included mattresses, blankets, bed sheets, mosquito nets, basins, school bags, exercise books, mathematical sets and pens.
A total of 50 HIV/AIDS orphans in Oyam, Lira, Dokolo and Apac districts are to benefit.
Speaking at the handover at Farmers Centre in Lira town on Thursday, Nile Breweries corporate affairs director Onapito Ekomoloit said the items were part of the company's commitment to improving the education of orphans among sorghum farmers.
Eagle Lager and Eagle Extra beer, which are products of Nile Breweries, are made from epuripur sorghum from the region.
Onapito said they would also sensitise the communities on HIV/AIDS.
The Lira secretary for production, Jane Ateng, commended the groups for assisting orphans.
